Technology capable of deterring blackouts

New software-based techniques have been created to detect faults in transformers and deter blackouts.

The technology uses algorithms to create an image of how the transformer should be functioning, enabling a service technician to detect faults. What is advantageous about this technology is that it can be applied every 20 milliseconds to immediately detect changes to the transformer.

The new technology is capable of identifying faults, issuing early warnings and, in doing so, deterring blackouts, fires and other environmental damage caused by power failures.

The implementation of such technology could be beneficial to energy providers.
