Trapping T-rays can improve medical imaging

Researchers from the University of Adelaide have discovered a new way of boosting the imaging sensitivity of terahertz waves.

The process involves trapping terahertz waves, or T-rays, in tiny holes, producing higher contrast imaging in scans than is currently possible.

The research could give medical diagnostic and security scanners higher sensitivity.
