Treating diarrhoea with GM milk

Goats milk, modified to resemble human milk, improves recovery from E. Coli infection, a study has found.

Researchers dosed pigs with E. Coli, then fed them goats milk genetically modified to contain more lysozyme, an antimicrobial protein found in higher concentrations in human milk. These pigs recovered more quickly from diarrhoea than the control group and had less damage to their intestines.
