VIDEO: Michelle Grattan on the government’s week of success

In a week marking the first anniversary of Turnbull’s prime ministership, the government was able to show it could work with the new parliament. University of Canberra deputy vice-chancellor Frances Shannon and Michelle Grattan discuss the significance of the government and Labor co-operating to pass the omnibus savings bill.

“What it holds for the future I think is a bit uncertain. It does give some hope of co-operation on some items. But on the other hand, Bill Shorten is going to play this parliament very toughly and so the extent of the co-operation I think is in question,” says Grattan.
