Vitamin D tied to cognitive health of ageing women

Women with low vitamin D levels may be at greater risk of cognitive impairment and decline as they age.

Vitamin D levels of less than 10 nanograms per millilitre of blood serum were associated with higher odds of cognitive impairment, measured by performance on the Mini-Mental State Examination.

The study of 6,257 women suggests that vitamin D may be vital for women’s cognitive health.
