New sponge to clean up oil spills

A new type of carbon nanotube sponge can absorb over 100 times its weight in oil making it perfect for cleaning up oil spills.

By adding boron to basic carbon nanotubes, scientists have created a sponge that can have its contained oil burned out before being reused.

The sponge is made of 99% air and is both magnetic and can conduct electricity.
