Atoms away! Tiny displacement polarises charge

Scientists have observed the smallest atomic displacement ever.

They used a new of x-ray technique that displaced atoms both magnetically and electrically.

The study found electric polarisation in the materials studied comes from displacing charges of different signs within one atom, rather than coming from other atoms.
