Baby turtles confirmed to swim, not drift

Baby loggerhead turtles have been confirmed to actively swim, rather than drift, into ocean currents.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists compared the daily movement of 40 junior loggerhead turtles, which had been tracked via satellite, with data obtained on ocean currents.

The study, which was published in the journal PLOS ONE, showed turtles have an ability to detect current flow direction and orient themselves to swim into the currents.
