Big bosses have a lot to learn from family businesses

Family businesses are more stable than large corporations because of their superior back-room diversity, researchers from Imperial, Leeds and Durham University business schools have found.

Their study found that 80 per cent of family-owned businesses have at least one female director.

The researchers believe increased diversity reduced conflict within the boardroom and enabled a focus on achievable, family-oriented goals.
