Bile pigment fights heart disease

Bile can help protect against heart disease and cancer, according to new research.

People with higher levels of a pigment called bilirubin in their bile were found to have greater immunity to heart disease and cancer. Bilirubin was found to interrupt disease progression and initiation, as well as reducing cholesterol levels.

Researchers hope to conduct further research on bilirubin in the future.
