Scott White is Editor of The Conversation Canada. Previously, he was Editor-in-Chief of The Canadian Press and Vice-President, Content Strategy and Business Development at Postmedia Network. He has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the journalism program at Ryerson University.

Saleem Khan is a digital news pioneer who founded JOVRNALISM for virtual reality in journalism, and INVSTG8.net. He launched and ran Canadian Broadcasting Corp.'s technology news service, was global technology and news editor at Metro and Toronto Star newspapers, and reported for the New York Times, Globe and Mail, National Post, Fast Company and others. He is a Kiplinger Fellow, Unity Fellow, and won OpenNews, African Media Initiative, Knight and Mozilla foundation honours. Formerly the Canadian Association of Journalists' chairman, Saleem is an Investigative Reporters & Editors Awards judge, advises the Online News Association and co-authored the Social Newsgathering Code of Ethics, and is adviser to Google/Knight/ONA's Journalism 360 immersive news initiative.

Vinita Srivastava has worked as an editor, reporter and multimedia producer. She developed the graduate digital media curriculum at Ryerson University where she also trained young journalists through the Verse City Project. She has reported for the New York Times, the Village Voice, Essence, Vibe and WBAI Radio in New York. She has a Masters degree in International Affairs from the New School; her interdisciplinary research on urban media entrepreneurs draws attention to the bias in North American news.

Frederick Blichert is a journalist, film critic, and independent scholar based in Vancouver. His writing has appeared in VICE, CBC, Senses of Cinema, and Bright Lights Film Journal, and he is the author of a monograph on the 2005 cult film Serenity, forthcoming from Columbia University Press.

Previously Caroline was editor of the Financial Mail in South Africa. Prior to that she worked for the Financial Times in London and Brussels in various roles over 17 years including as World Desk Editor and as a foreign correspondent covering European Union agriculture and social policy.

Julius was previously managing editor of a number of Kenyan national daily and weekly newspaper titles under the Nation Media Group and The Standard Group in Nairobi, among them the Saturday Nation. He was the founding editor of Drum East Africa magazine and has also worked as a senior editor in Tanzania.

Joy is a science and health enthusiast. Over the past 10 years she has worked at the Daily Nation and Standard Newspapers in Kenya as a senior health and science writer. She has a Masters of Public Health from Moi University and is a past winner of various health awards and fellowships. These included being named the African Story Challenge fellow in 2014 and best reporter awards from the Media Council of Kenya and at both media organisations she worked for.

Ozayr previously worked as a television and online producer with a special focus on sport at independent television and online news agency, e News Channel Africa. Prior to that he was employed as a content controller for the Supersport website.

Charles was news editor at the Mail & Guardian for four years before joining us. As a reporter, producer, news editor and executive producer with 29 years of experience, he has worked at a variety of South African publications and broadcasters including Business Day, the SABC TV, SAfm, Vrye Weekblad and the Sunday Times. He has also worked for the UK's Channel Four News. He has written extensively on arts, culture, politics and sport.

At heart, Julie is a human rights proponent with a specific interest in women, leadership and governance. She has vast experience in writing and editing for both newspapers and magazines in the East African region, including titles under the Nation Media Group, the Standard Group and East Africa Magazines. She hosts a weekly political and current affairs talk show on KTN News in Nairobi and writes a weekly governance column for The Standard Newspaper. Julie studied law at the University of Sheffield in the UK and has a Certificate in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Samantha is a journalist, researcher and editor. She has extensive online media experience and has written widely on a variety of pan-African issues having previously worked for Africa Review and Mail & Guardian Africa based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has also contributed to a range of titles including the Daily Nation, the East African, the World Economic Forum and Citiscope.

Misha has been a journalist for more than 20 years. He joined The Conversation late in 2010 and was managing editor of the team that launched the website in March the following year. In previous roles he was founding editor of The Big Issue Australia and editor of Crikey. He has also edited The Melbourne Weekly, worked for The Age as a reporter and feature writer and spent several years at the ABC where he was a TV producer on Media Watch and The 7:30 Report and an editor on The Drum.

Liz is a Walkley award-winning journalist and author, with two decades of experience in newspapers, radio and online. Liz is now Executive Editor, a newly-created role that includes leading The Conversation’s national training program, which teaches pitching, writing and public engagement skills to academics and researchers; working with the senior editing team; and public presentations and outreach for member organisations. She joined The Conversation in 2012 as its first Queensland Editor.

Suzy is a former features editor, news editor and arts editor at The Age, where she wrote a regular oped column for many years. She has taught journalism at the University of Melbourne, freelanced in New York and contributed to academic journals such as Meanjin.

Lucinda has 13 years’ experience reporting for leading Australian and international publications and websites, with a background in financial and world news. As a journalist for The Times in Sydney, Lucinda reported on breaking Australian and foreign news for a global audience. Prior to that, she spent 10 years covering the Australian financial services sector for a range of publications, working as a reporter, editor, video producer and presenter.

Josh joins The Conversation after stints in print, radio and online. His background in politics, philosophy and economics positions him to tackle issues from a variety of disciplines.

Based in Perth, Michael joined The Conversation after several years as a journalist with Fairfax, Sky News and The West Australian. Before moving to Australia from his native UK, he was a senior news and features writer for Nature.

Fron joined The Conversation in March 2011 from the Australian Medical Association, where she managed the Victorian media office. She previously worked for BBC Magazines in London and Melbourne consultancy Twenty20 Communications.

Anna is a specialist medical and science journalist, has edited online science news at the ABC and taught journalism at two universities. She has degrees in biochemistry and journalism, and her freelance work has appeared in outlets including the Sydney Morning Herald, New Scientist (UK) and the Financial Times newsletters. She is also an award winning blogger and travel writer.

Prior to joining The Conversation, Amanda was a reporter and editor with The Age for 16 years, covering health, education, social policy, pop culture and the arts. She was also news and features editor for The Sunday Age, which included overseeing the paper's coverage of the 2007 federal election.

Sarah joined The Conversation in October 2016. She previously worked as a freelance science writer and editor, in science communication and as an immunology researcher in Australia and Indonesia. She has a PhD and a Graduate Diploma in Sciences Communication.

Ariel joined The Conversation in 2017 following several years covering technology and science across print and radio in Australia and the USA. Previously, she was associate editor at Mashable, Sydney where she won awards for her technology coverage. She has also been associate editor with Future Tense, a joint editorial project with Slate and New America, Washington DC.

Veronika is an award-winning journalist and author, with two decades of experience in radio, print and digital. Before joining The Conversation, she produced and hosted a weekly science programme for New Zealand’s public broadcaster RNZ, for which she won several journalism awards, including the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s prize for best documentary. She has also contributed to other broadcasters and publications in New Zealand and internationally, including the NZ Listener, NZ Geographic, New Scientist and Deutsche Welle.

Molly Glassey graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a degree in Journalism, majoring in Law. Since graduating, she has worked as a features writer for Concrete Playground and was the court and crime reporter for The Warwick Daily News. She spent 2015 in Germany freelancing and studying German and Arabic. Molly returns to The Conversation after interning and working on the Arts + Culture desk in 2014.

Wes joined The Conversation in late 2015. In the past he has written for Crikey, Junkee and the Centre for Advancing Journalism’s The Citizen. He is also a cartoonist and has had cartoons featured in the Museum of Australian Democracy’s annual best of Australian political cartoons exhibition, Behind the Lines.

Leighton est l'un des fondateurs de Journalist's Resource, un projet de Harvard Kennedy School, où il fut le rédacteur en chef. Il a aussi travaillé pour le Boston Globe, le San Francisco Bay Guardian et plusieurs autres médias aux États-Unis.

Fabrice Rousselot started his career as a foreign correspondent for French national newspaper, Libération. He was US bureau chief and UK bureau chief for the daily and spent many years in the field. He then lead Liberation's website before becoming the editor in chief of the newspaper. He left Libération in 2014, and embarked on an adventure with The Conversation, contributing to the launch of The Conversation France in 2015. Fabrice has collaborated with many international magazines and media outlets. He has published one novel and two non fiction books about Pakistan and French politics.

Catesby has a background in magazines, having edited for Travel + Leisure and NACLA Report on the Americas. She is also a writer-reporter, focusing primarily on urban planning topics. Prior to joining The Conversation Global, Catesby worked at the Open Society Foundations, where she supported drug policy reform in Latin America. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Stephen Khan is The Conversation’s Editor in the UK. He was a news editor at The Guardian and previously Deputy Foreign Editor of The Independent, Scotland Editor of The Observer and also worked for The Sunday Herald in Scotland.

Before joining The Conversation as Executive Editor, Matt Warren was a magazine editor and features executive on The Daily Mail.

Annabel joins The Conversation from a background in broadcast journalism. She was previously a radio news show producer at digital station Monocle 24 covering a wide array of international issues.

Holly joins The Conversation from a background in broadcast journalism and magazine publishing. She spent three years working as a reporter and editor on a number of business publications focusing on housing, the environment and health. Before this, she worked for the BBC as a journalist and researcher. She is based in York.

Laura worked for more than five years as a reporter and news editor for Research Fortnight, a specialist publication focusing on science, technology and higher education policy. She also worked as a reporter for Research Europe, covering French higher education policy and European policy in areas including space and innovation.

Andrew comes from a social science background, and studied and worked in the US. Before joining The Conversation, he worked on projects spanning behavioural economics, ethnography for public policy, and commercial qualitative research.

Miriam worked for four years as a reporter and news editor of Research Fortnight, a specialist publication focusing on science, technology and higher education policy. She has previously written for publications including New Scientist, Nature and Physics World. She also has a background as a PhD student in atomic physics, specialising in laboratory astrophysics.

Steven Vass joined The Conversation in February 2014 after nearly 10 years at the Sunday Herald, first as media correspondent and then as deputy business editor, where he wrote about most aspects of business but particularly energy, the economy and the financial crisis. He previously spent several years as a VSO volunteer in Zambia and several more as a media analyst in London.

Ruth comes from a background in the Welsh media, most recently working at the South Wales Evening Post. Before this, she worked as editor of a respected automotive industry publication. She is based in Cardiff.

Luke has worked as a journalist in the UK national press for 14 years, including a decade at the Daily Mail as a reporter and news editor. He is based in Bristol.

Emily graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2014 with an MA in Philosophy and English Literature. She joined The Conversation in 2015, after gaining experience with Press Data Ltd, the St James Ethics Centre and student newspaper The Journal. She is currently undertaking an MSc in Media and Communications at the LSE.

Previously Maria was at the BBC in London where, for 10 years, she was Editor, World Current Affairs Radio. A 2010 Nieman Fellow at Harvard she is also the founder of Latitude News, a digital platform that introduced new ways of covering world affairs for American audiences.

Jennifer Weeks spent the past decade as a freelance journalist covering environment, science and health for magazines and web sites. She also has worked as a Congressional aide, lobbyist, and policy analyst in Washington, DC and Boston.

Jeff has two decades of experience working for news organizations in Antarctica, New Zealand, Vermont, Missouri, Maine and Massachusetts. He has covered many topics in science and technology, and beyond. He has a BA in history from Middlebury College and an MA in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Lynne Anderson has been a medical and healthcare writer and editor for more than a dozen years. Lynne covered consumer health at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where she also was a bureau chief and editor. She served as director of communications at Emory University's Winship Cancer Institute and also at the University of Kentucky's Kentucky Cancer Program. She has a master's degree in science, health and environmental reporting from Columbia University.

Kalpana has worked as an editor, writer and researcher at Harvard University. A 2009 Nieman Fellow at Harvard, she pursued many social justice issues as a journalist at The Times of India. Her case study on modern-day slavery is part of a Harvard course, and her book on the AIDS epidemic in India, is taught at many Indian universities. She holds a Master in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School.

Before joining The Conversation, Danielle was a communications specialist for the Southern Regional Education Board. She has written for the Miami Herald, The Alexandria Times and other publications. She holds a BA in psychology from Emory University, where she was a 2013 Community Building and Social Change Fellow.

Aviva Hope Rutkin was previously a reporter and editor at New Scientist. Her stories have also appeared in BBC Future, MIT Technology Review, Metro, Salon, Mashable, and on podcasts and radio. She studied neuroscience at Union College and science writing at MIT.

Joel ran social media strategy and launched vertical sites on Catholicism and technology for The Boston Globe. He has also worked in product management and editorial positions at The Christian Science Monitor, Lycos, and CNN International.

David Estok is the Vice-President, Communications for the University of Toronto. He oversees a team of marketing and communications professionals in digital media, brand marketing, media relations and communications. Previously, David was Vice-President, Communications for SickKids Hospital Foundation and was also Associate Vice-President for Communications and Public Affairs for The University of Western Ontario. David had a long career in journalism and was the Editor-in-Chief of The Hamilton Spectator for four years. Under his leadership, the newspaper was nominated for 11 National Newspaper Awards, two Michener awards and was named best large-scale media organization in Canada.

Mary Lynn Young Ph.D. is an associate professor at the University of British Columbia School of Journalism and co-founder of The Conversation Canada. Her research interests include gender and the media, newsroom sociology, data journalism and representations of crime. She has worked as an editor, national business columnist and crime reporter at major daily newspapers in Canada and the United States. Certified as a coach in 2013, her list of scholarly awards includes: Visiting Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ), Oxford University (April-June 2016), the UBC Peter Wall Institute of Advanced Studies Early Career Scholar Award (2009-2010) and the 2007 Rufus Z. Smith Award for the best article published in the American Review of Canadian Studies.
