Coastal flooding could cost billions

Coastal flooding could effect up to 600m people and cost billions of dollars in repairs within the century.

New research has shown that due to rising sea levels and population and economic growth in coastal zones, drastic increases in damage can be expected.

Researchers say that unless considerable coastal protection measures are put in place, it will currently cost us up to A$40 billion a year in damages and A$100,000 billion by 2100.
