Cold air restricts heart’s oxygen supply

Breathing cold air increases oxygen demand and reduces oxygen supply in the heart, a new study has found.

The oxygen imbalance makes performing isometric activities, such as shovelling snow, under the extreme cold dangerous for people with heart ailments.

Results show that healthy bodies have the ability to compensate for the increased demand for oxygen but people suffering from heart problems may not be able to do so.
