Family-based therapy can help anorexia

Families can be educated to help their children overcome anorexia nervosa, according to new research.

Family-based therapy has been shown to have a 50% to 60% recovery rate among adolescents. The trials also showed that relapse rates were significantly reduced in comparison with individual therapy treatments.

Researchers hope the treatment will become more widely available once more clinicians are properly trained in family therapy.
