Dung beetles reduce emissions

Beetles living in cow pats are helping to reduce the climatic effects of the dairy and farming industry by decreasing methane emissions.

Dung beetles aerate cow pats which, in turn, reduces the production of methane.

Researchers are concerned overall cattle farming emissions will increase as dung beetle species are declining while meat consumption is increasing.
