Eye spy a new killer fungus

A life-threatening fungus to cats and humans has been discovered by a University of Sydney researcher.

The tumour-like fungus, Aspergillus felis, develops in the eye socket and spreads through the nasal cavity affecting the respiratory tract.

Cats have a 15% survival rate after contracting the fungus while no human has been known to survive the disease.
