Fighting disease with guilt-free antioxidants

A recently-developed chemical compound mimics the activity of antioxidants found in wine and chocolate.

The synthetic compounds are designed to promote the body’s natural antioxidant defences, neutralising harmful free radicals and fighting the onset of associated diseases.

According to the compounds’ developer, the beneficial effects of antioxidants can now be experienced without “the guilt of pleasures such as red wine and chocolate”.
