Lancaster is ranked No.1 in the North West and No. 10 in the UK by the Guardian, and is in the top 1% of universities globally.
Performance in successive research assessment exercises has placed Lancaster as one of the leading universities in the UK, reflected in its research partnerships that advance core disciplinary knowledge and address key societal issues. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), Lancaster was ranked 13th for the percentage of world-leading research out of the 128 institutions listed.
It has rapidly achieved a global reputation for excellence, reflected in high positions in UK and global league tables, consistently high student satisfaction and strong graduate employment. Students from one hundred countries make up a thriving community based around nine unique colleges, and Lancaster’s community extends far beyond campus with global research, teaching and student exchange partnerships, and alumni in 147 countries.
Its work with over 5000 SMEs since 1999 has resulted in the creation of 250 new businesses and more than 4000 new jobs, and Lancaster – which was named as a top-ten university for SME engagement in the recent Witty Review – is a winner of the Small Business Charter Gold Award in recognition of the role it has played in helping to kick-start British enterprise.
Students at Lancaster University are more satisfied with their course than the average UK student according to the latest National Student Survey. These results reflect the dedication of staff who work hard to ensure that every student who comes here will receive the very best education.
