Long-term unemployment impacts on grandchildren

The negative impact of unemployed parents is intergenerational, extending beyond academic outcomes for their children to their grandchildren, University of Western Australia research indicates.

Grandchildren of unemployed parents had worse social-emotional and academic outcomes.

This was the case for grandchildren even in families where children of unemployed parents did not experience joblessness.
