Modest GDP growth but watch inflation

Australia’s GDP will grow modestly this year, as domestic consumption and investment counterbalance weaker international trade growth and the impact of a strong Australian dollar on exports, according to an annual review undertaken by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. The Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to keep a tight rein over inflation driven by rising wages.
