New community features: displaying comments

Hi, I’m Travis from The Conversation development team. You may have noticed we’ve been implementing a few small changes to the way articles appear.

These changes are the first part of a more substantial redesign to make articles easier to find and read across all devices and platforms. We’re also making pages load more quickly by cutting the amount of unnecessary stuff sent during a page request.

Recently we’ve added a few new features to comments.

  1. The comments section is only loaded when you scroll to that part of the page.

  2. Comments are initially rolled-up, and you can easily choose to see them all by clicking the “Show all comments” button.

  3. If you have already commented on an article the comments will be automatically unrolled.

We think these changes will work well for everyone but if you’ve got any comments or suggestions please let us know.
