Aarif Alutaybi is a PhD student in the Department of Computing and informatics, Bournemouth University, UK. Aarif's research is interdisciplinary, involving Social Informatics, Behavioural Science, Social Psychology and Software Engineering.

His thesis tackles the problem of Fear of Missing out (FoMO) on social media, and he explores the design features which can both trigger and also limit FoMO. He is also working on an educational method for a digital usage that minimize FoMO. Aarif received his MSc in Information Technology from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2011.
