Media and Communications Lecturer, Nottingham Trent University

My name is Dr Adilaid Bhebhe. I hold a PhD in Journalism, Media and Communication Studies from the Nottingham Trent University (United Kingdom), a Masters Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes university (South Africa), a Post Graduate Diploma in Media and Communication Studies and a BA Degree in English, both from the University of Zimbabwe. I currently teach on the "Understanding Media" module at the Nottingham Trent University. I have also previously taught on the "Media and Society" module at the National University of Science and technology in Zimbabwe.

My research interests are in the area of media audiences, with a particular focus on: reception and consumption of media texts by a contemporary audience and meaning-making processes involved, the impact of modern multi-media technologies on reception and consumption of media texts particularly by young and technologically savvy viewers, pedagogic role of popular television genres such as soap operas and their effectiveness in conveying crucial public health messages to younger audiences.
