I gained a Hornours degree in Anthropology (Prehistory) from The University of Sydney, which was completed in 1977. In 1993, I obtaind a MA in "Cultural Resources Management" from the same University. As a professional, since 1977, I've worked mostly in the archaeological field, carrying out surveys andexcavation work (e.g. Barracks & Mint Project - Macquarie St 1980; Port Arthur Conservation Project - 1981 to 1984 summer seasons, to name a few). Between the years 1978 and 1980, I was an archaeological consultant for the "Centro Tecnologico de MInas Gerais - CETEC" (Technological Center Foundation of Minas Gerais State, Brazil). From 1991 up to 2012, I worked for the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service; positions occupied during that period varied from on-the-field work in the areas of Historic Archaeology and public Heritage-Interpretation projects; Area Management of parks and nature reserves, which involved day-to-day administration and enviromental assessment and planning. I also worked, from time to time, researching, developing and writing policies and guidelines in the fileds of historic and archaeologic sites management and public heritage conservation and interpretation. I retired from the public service in 2012, after proudly serving the people of NSW for 21 years!
I was born in Brazil in 1951, having come to Australia in 1972, as to get away from the opressive military regime that had been in power since 1964. I am proficient in portuguese, my mother-tongue, spanish and french, having a resonable knowledge of italian. I am deeply interested in current affairs, global politics, the sciences and passionate about social justice and equal rights, independent of sex, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religious affiliation.
