Tartir is a Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Security Assessment in North Africa (SANA) project at the Small Arms Survey.

Tartir is also a Research Associate at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP) and an Academic Coordinator at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Among other positions, Tartir was a Visiting Professor at Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po, and a Researcher in International Development Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he earned his PhD.
