Reader in Biochemistry, Aston University

I did my PhD in yeast cell communication at the University of Warwick before moving on to Oxford University for two postdoctoral positions working on proteins that reside within cell membranes. Since leaving Oxford I was a Lecturer at the University of Lincoln until moving to Aston University in 2016. My main research interests continue to focus on the cell membrane and the proteins that it contains. I'm fascinated how cells get things, information or molecules, across the membrane and how we can exploit these for biotechnological applications. In 2024, I was one of the founding members of the Aston Institute for Membrane Excellence.
