Dr. Alemu Gonsamo is an Assistant Professor of Remote Sensing at School of Geography & Earth Sciences, McMaster University. Dr. Gonsamo earned his PhD in Remote Sensing from the University of Helsinki in Finland and was a postdoctoral fellow and research associate at the University of Toronto before joining McMaster University in 2019.

Dr. Gonsamo’s research focuses on ground, airborne, and satellite remote sensing of vegetation from the leaf to the globe with special focus on Plant Structure and Physiology, Phenology, Global Change Ecology, Terrestrial Carbon Cycle and Climate Change Impact.
