Alessandro Soranzo

I have obtained undergraduate degree and MSc in Experimental psychology at the Department of Psychology - University of Triest (ITA). In 2005, I was a Post Doc research fellow in the Department of Vision Sciences - Glasgow Caledonian University (UK). 2006-2012 I worked at Teesside University on Visual Perception. I joined Sheffield Hallam University in September 2012.

My major research interest is related to the area of visual perception, in particular to lightness perception, which studies the achromatic dimension of colour perception. The long-term aim of my work is to integrate the outcomes of relevant experiments, together with the outcomes of the experiments of other researchers, in a coherent theory of lightness perception. I am also interested in naïve physics and psychophysics methods to sensory thresholds estimations and software programming.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), a APS Member (Member of the Association for Psychological Science) and a Member of the British Colour Group.
