Lecturer in Politics with International Relations, London South Bank University

Alex Prior is a Lecturer in Politics with International Relations at London South Bank University. He was previously a lecturer at the University of East Anglia, and worked with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and United Nations Development Programme on their 2022 Global Parliamentary Report on public engagement with parliaments.

His research focuses on the relationship between parliaments and publics, encompassing public engagement and the use of storytelling to understand and strengthen it. More recently, he has explored the relationship between parliamentary design and political behaviour, as well as themes of belonging, inclusion and exclusion in parliaments.

Alex has professional experience in the electoral sphere and parliamentary select committees. He has also researched and written reports for the UK's leading public participation charities, discussing public engagement in (and perceptions toward) key ethical, societal and technological questions.
