Alex Tickell is Senior Lecturer in English and Director of the Postcolonial Literatures Research Group at the OU.

He studied for his doctorate in South Asian Literature in English at the University of Leeds and taught at the University of York before joining the Open University in 2011. Alex has published on South Asian literary history, contemporary fiction and nineteenth-century colonial representations of India, and was editor of the Oxford History of the Novel in English, Volume 10., covering South and Southeast Asia.
Alex is currently a Leverhulme Research Fellow, working on a book project: City Fictions of the New India: Literature, Infrastructure, Citizenship.
