Alexandra Edelman

PhD Candidate and Policy Officer, James Cook University

Based in Townsville within the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University (JCU), Alex contributes across a wide range of policy areas relevant to improving health and health workforce development in rural, remote, Indigenous and tropical Australia, including playing an active role in the establishment of the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre. She was a 2015 Research Fellow and IMF/World Bank Delegate with Global Voices and a contributing author to the inaugural State of the Tropics Report, launched in Myanmar in 2014. Alex holds a BA (Development Studies) and a Bachelor of Public Policy and Management (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies from JCU and is currently completing a Master of Public Health and PhD at JCU. Her thesis examines the phenomenon of academic health centres in Australia and the United Kingdom using a health equity lens.
