Reader in International Relations and Security, Loughborough University

I joined Loughborough University in January 2017 as Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. I have a Ph.D. from Aberystwyth University, and MA in European Politics from Lund University. Prior to Loughborogh. I was Assistant Professor at Bilkent University, Department of International Relations (2011-2016). I am the Prince Claus Chair 2017-19 in the area of Migration and Human Security at ISS, Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

My research is on the areas of Turkish politics, Middle East politics, security and migration. I am the author of Rethinking Security in the Age of Migration: Trust and Emancipation in Europe (Routledge, 2013) and Turkey, Power and the West: Gendered International Relations and Foreign Policy (I.B. Tauris, 2016).
