Lecturer in Creative Writing and 19th-Century Literature, Aberystwyth University

I gained my PhD and now teach creative writing at Aberystwyth University.

My research primarily involves the history of medicine, with a focus on Renaissance anatomy and Victorian parapsychology. I am particularly interested in the cultural and scientific depictions of sleep disorders such as sleep paralysis, lucid dreams, and hypnopompic hallucinations.

My debut non-fiction book, Night Terrors: Troubled Sleep and the Stories We Tell About It, was published by Icon Books in October 2022. My research interests include the history of medicine, particularly representations of sleep disorders and Victorian pseudoscience.
