Dr. Alicia Morehead-Gee is a general internal medicine physician and health services leader committed to designing and evaluating solutions to improve health outcomes among underserved populations. As Medical Director of HIV Prevention at AltaMed Health Services Corporation, she is leading an initiative to teach primary care providers, pharmacists, and healthcare staff about HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). This initiative, funded by California Department of Public Health Office of AIDS, includes trainings regarding trauma-informed care approaches to sexual health and LBGTQ+ healthcare, best practices for HIV prevention, and pharmacy education for PrEP and PEP furnishing. Dr. Morehead-Gee is also an Assistant Professor at Charles Drew University, with research focusing on HIV Prevention and PrEP awareness among marginalized populations.
