Political scientist, University of Missouri-St. Louis

I got my Master’s degree in political science at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2017 and went further to get a doctorate in Political Science at the same institution.

My academic interest is in elections, ethnic politics, and voting behavior in Africa. I am also interested in the studies of human rights abuses in Africa within the context of politics or harmful cultural practices such as early marriage or the practice of FGM.

My dissertation examined ethnicity, issue voting, and regime change in the 2016 presidential election in The Gambia. Also conducted a study that examines the perceptions of high school students on the practice of FGM.

Aside from my academic interest in conducting research and teaching, I am also a strong advocate of multi-cultural education. Over the years, I have successfully organized many studies abroad programs to Senegal and The Gambia with the Juniata College. These programs offer my students concrete and practical first-hand experiences into the politics, culture, and developmental challenges of these African countries.
