I am a historian at Macquarie University specialising in Australian and Indigenous History. I have published widely on themes of race, colonialism, humanitarianism, rights and citizenship. My 2015 monograph, Just Relations. The Story of Mary Bennett's Crusade for Aboriginal Rights, (UWA Publishing) was short-listed for the NSW Premier's Australian History prize. My next book, Breaking the Silence. Aboriginal Defenders and the Settler State, 1905-1939 (Melbourne University Publishing) was released in November 2019.
