Dr Alison Taylor is is a highly skilled demographer, with extensive experience in the research and application of demography and related information in an urban and regional planning policy context.

Alison was most recently the NSW Chief Demographer, before that worked for over 10 years in the Queensland Government, spent some time in Canberra and also worked at one of the largest local government areas in the country, at Gold Coast City. Alison has been a demographic planner for NSW School Education and served on the Queensland Non State Schools Accreditation Board and Funding Eligibility Committee.

She has produced projections, conducted demographic and social analysis, and presented insights in each of these areas. A consistent theme across all her roles has been the contribution of information needed to make good strategic decision-making and investment choices.

Alison is currently researching at the City Futures Research Centre and lecturing in the Faculty of Built Environment at the University of New South Wales. She also consults for a range of clients including the Greater Sydney Commission, various government agencies and private sector organisations.
