Amanda-Jane George

AJ is a lawyer and academic with a passion for innovation and intellectual property (IP), and facilitating IP literacy - both in business and in higher education.

During her time at top tier firms Mallesons and Clayton Utz, and McCullough Robertson Lawyers, she advised both global and national firms as well as government. This experience gives her teaching 'real world' relevance.

AJ has developed and taught cutting edge undergraduate and postgraduate IP courses at Group of Eight universities and regional universities, from the University of Queensland's Institute for Molecular Biosciences, School of Business, School of Pharmacy and the Law School; to QUT's Business School. She now teaches at CQUniversity's College of Law, which was Australia's first fully-online accredited law degree program.

AJ's qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Laws (Bond University) (JFKearney Gold Medal, Una Prentice Award),
- Master of Laws (Intellectual Property) (London, Queen Mary & Westfield) (Derby-Bryce Prize)
- PhD in Australian patent law (University of Queensland).

Her PhD publications in patent law/fair basis have been cited by the Australian High Court and the Australian Patents Office in its Manual of Practice & Procedure.

Specialties: International intellectual property law, Licensing and Commercialisation, Contracts and Competition Law.

Research interests: innovation policy, intellectual property, relational contracting, human-centred and design thinking.

Member: Licensing Executives Society of Australia & New Zealand, Queensland Law Society.
