Lecturer in Early Childhood, University of Sydney

Dr Amanda Niland holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education and postgraduate qualifications in music education, Montessori education and children's literature. She taught in early childhood and school classrooms over more than 20 years, as a generalist teacher and music specialist. After beginning her academic career at Macquarie University, Amanda currently lectures in Early Childhood at the University of Sydney and is director of the Master of Teaching Early Childhood program. She also works as a consultant in early childhood intervention. Amanda's research focuses on music and children's social identities, and inclusive early childhood education. She has a particular interest in children's literature and has published two picture books.
