Amos Oluwole Taiwo

Lecturer, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria, Olabisi Onabanjo University

I am a lecturer and an urban planner with specific interests in social and environmental problems of people who are socio-economically disadvantaged in society. Many of my research efforts have concentrated on such deprived populations as street children/child labourers and street beggars. My research is theoretically informed by the vicious circle of poverty, ecological, concentric, sector and the multiple nuclei theories. My work is also guided by the principle that socio-cultural context is important in the study of social and environmental phenomena. The overall significance of my research is to improve our understanding of social and environmental issues and effectively use spatial planning to address the causes and reduce the unwanted burden of the problems in our society.
