Anab Ovidie Grand

Anab is Junior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). At NUPI she focuses on the African Union, peace operations, stabilisation and climate-related peace and security risks in addition to the partnerships between the EU/Nordics and Africa/African Union. She mainly works on the Training for Peace (TfP) Programme and the Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON), and is a part of the research group on peace, conflict and development.

Anab previously worked as an Advisor for the Permanent Mission of Norway to the African Union in Ethiopia covering peace and security issues and led the missions portfolio on conflict prevention, mediation, the partnership between the AU and the UN, and women/youth peace and security. She also has experience working for the Universal Tolerance Organization and Doctors Without Borders in Norway, and the YMCA in Madagascar.

Anab earned a master's degree in African Studies in 2017 focusing on youth engagement in Madagascar and later completed additional studies on UN Peacekeeping Operations w/ a focus on protection of civilians and the use of force. During her studies she conducted field research in Somaliland, Ghana and Madagascar.

Her primary research interests include the African Union, peace operations, protection of civilians, mediation in addition to women/youth peace and security.
