Andreas Busch

Dr. Busch is a Professor in Earth Sciences, focusing mainly on GeoEnergy applications and is Head of the GeoEnergy Research Group in the Lyell Centre (https://geoenergy.hw.ac.uk/). The Group is composed of geologists, geomechanics, reservoir engineers, hydrologists and geochemists, aiming at an improved understanding of the coupled thermo-hydro-chemical-mechanical aspects related to carbon capture and storage (CCS), geothermal heat and natural gas production on the laboratory, field and modelling scale.

Professor Busch holds a PhD and post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) in Geology from RWTH Aachen University in Germany as well a a MSc in Geology from Phillips-University Marburg, Germany and a BSc(HONS) in Economic Geology from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Before joining Heriot-Watt University in 2016, Dr. Busch was a Research Geoscientist at Shell Global Solutions in the Netherlands
