Andrew Hathaway

Andrew Hathaway is a professor of sociology at the University of Guelph. His primary research contributions are in the areas of drug use, harm reduction, human rights, and Canadian drug policy. His research on cannabis, spanning over two decades, examines use in marginalized and mainstream populations, and draws out implications for social policy development. He has held a number of federal grants to study the use of marijuana for medical conditions and broader normalizing trends of cannabis consumption using surveys, interviews, and ethnographic methods. His work is published in a wide variety of journals; and he is author of the textbook Drugs and Society (2015) published by Oxford University Press.
