Professor of Astronomy, Macquarie University

Internationally renowned astrophysicist, with experience in national leadership and policy advice, having served as President of the Astronomical Society of Australia, and two terms on the Australian Academy of Science's National Committee for Astronomy. Management of major national infrastructure development and operations, including the Anglo-Australian Telescope at Siding Spring Observatory and new international telescope facilities. Success in building and leading several major (100+ strong) international research collaborations, to deliver major astrophysical survey programs, while promoting and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Interests span galaxy evolution and star formation over cosmic history, scientific literacy and science communication, fostering a culture of critical thinking for the benefit of society.
