Professor of Law, City, University of London

Professor Andrew Boon holds a degree in Law, a Masters in Higher and Further Education and a doctorate. He was a solicitor for six years and a partner in a firm before joining the University sector. He was Head of the Law School at the University of Westminster for 14 years before joining City, University of London in September 2012. He served on the Law Society's Training Framework Review Group, was Education Advisor to the General Council of the Bar of England and Wales and Vice-Chair of the Bar Standards Board's Education and Training Committee. He held numerous consultancies with government and professional bodies. He was a founding director of the International Association of Legal Ethics and a member of the Board of the Socio-Legal Studies Association. His research interests include legal professions and regulation. He writes the leading academic texts on professional legal ethics in England and Wales. His most recent book was an edited collection, International Perspectives on the Regulation of Lawyers and Legal Services (2018). A new book, Lawyers and the Rule of Law, will be published in Autumn 2022. He is a Convenor of the Lawyers and Legal Professions stream for the Socio-Legal Studies Association Annual Conference.
