Angela Lucas-Herald

Clinical Lecturer, Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, University of Glasgow

Dr Lucas-Herald studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh (MBChB) with an intercalated B Med Sci Hons in Sport Science Medicine. She graduated in 2010 when she started the Academic Foundation Programme in Glasgow. Thereafter she began Speciality Training in Paediatrics via the Glasgow Academic Training Environment programme. She completed her Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2013, a Postgraduate Certificate in Child Health (Merit) in 2014 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education in 2016. She began a Clinical Lectureship in Child Health at the University of Glasgow in 2014, working with Professor Faisal Ahmed and the Developmental Endocrinology Research Group at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and is now sub specialising in the field of Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology. She completed her PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences in 2020, having worked at the British Heart Foundation Cardiovascular Research Centre of Excellence in Glasgow studying the effects of sex hormones on vascular function in boys with hypogonadism with funding from the British Heart Foundation. Her particular research interest is in the field of Disorders of Sex Development. Dr Lucas-Herald is heavily involved in research and medical education and regularly teaches and supervises undergraduate MBChB and BSc students.
