Dr Anna Hogan graduated with First Class Honours from the BApSc(HMS)(Edu) program at the University of Queensland in 2008. Subsequently, she completed a Masters of Educational Studies majoring in Public Education while teaching Science and Biology at a number of Brisbane secondary schools. Anna completed her PhD at the University of Queensland, which was supervised by Professor Bob Lingard and awarded in 2015.

Anna's research interests broadly focus on education policy and practice. Specifically, she investigates the commercialisation and privatisation of schooling. She currently works on a number of research projects, including investigating philanthropy in Australian public schooling, the privatisation of global school provision, and the intensification of teachers' work. She has published widely on these topics, and has worked closely with school systems in relation to these issues. Anna is Associate Editor of Critical Studies in Education.
