Annaleena Parhankangas

Associate Professor of Management in the Jerry and Debbie Ivy College of Business, Iowa State University

Annaleena Parhankangas is Associate Professor and Dean’s Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Iowa State University. Her teaching focuses on entrepreneurship and international business, and her research interests include how communication and language may help entrepreneurs build legitimacy and access to critical resources.

Dr Parhankangas’s most recent research analyses the role of communicative strategies in removing barriers for non-traditional entrepreneurs, such as indigenous populations. She has held faculty positions at South Dakota State University, University of Illinois at Chicago, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Helsinki University of Technology. She serves on editorial boards of Journal of Business Venturing, Academy of Management Perspectives, International Journal of Technoentrepreneurship and Venture Capital: International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance. Originally from Finland, Dr Parhankangas received her PhD from Helsinki University of Technology.

She is co-author of the Handbook on Research on Crowdfunding (2019) with Hans Landström and Colin Mason, published by Edward Elgar Publishing.
