Annie Blatchford

PhD Candidate, Melbourne Law School, The University of Melbourne

My PhD is looking at the impact of legal rules and restrictions on the media's production of stories on domestic homicide. These rules and restrictions include sub judice contempt, intervention order publication restrictions, suppression orders, the rules of evidence and court processes. The aim is to ensure accurate, ethical reporting of domestic homicides within legal boundaries, and where possible, allow for the inclusion of contextual information that will contribute to the community's growing awareness of violence against women.
