Honorary Research Associate and Karst Geohazard Specialist, British Geological Survey

Anthony has a PhD in geology from Sheffield University, he is a Chartered Geologist and European Geologist. For the past 37 years, his research has concentrated on soluble rocks, especially gypsum and salt with their associated subsidence and engineering geological hazards. Since joining the British Geological Survey, he has also worked on Ordovician rocks in the Lake District and the Permian, Triassic and Quaternary strata in Yorkshire and the Midlands; he is currently researching aspects of the Anthropocene. His work on soluble rocks has taken him to many countries and he has authored papers with English, Spanish, American, Lithuanian, Italian, Ukrainian and Chinese co-workers.
